Predator Paintball FAQs
Does it hurt?
There is no simple answer to this; obviously, getting hit by a paintball travelling at speed has the potential to hurt. But if it hurts, or how much it hurts, depends upon a number of things – 1) the distance you are hit from; 2) the angle you are hit from; 3) how much/what clothing/protection you are wearing; 4) where you get hit; and 5) what your pain threshold is/how used to these sort of things you are. And who you are playing against???
- If you are hit at very close range e.g. 6’, it’s going to sting, for sure.
- If you are hit directly there is a higher chance of it hurting than if you get a glancing blow
- If you are wearing a few layers/thick jacket/the provided chest/back protector/gloves
- If you get hit in an area that is not covered by any clothing it is definitely going to tickle! Same as if you get hit in a sensitive area such as between the legs - it's always a good idea to pad up!
- If you are used to the rough and tumbles of life you’ll take it all in your stride. However, if the most active thing you do normally is read a book or play a video game, you may be in for a shock.
We want you to have an exciting adrenaline filled time with us, but we don’t want you going away black and blue. While that may be some people’s idea of fun, we are aware that most people want to go away smiling rather than in tears!
By nature, Predator Paintball is an intense experience. There are a number of things we have done to try to reduce the chance of getting hurt:
- As we play close-quarter combat we have lowered the velocity of the markers from the standard 250-280 feet per second that is used at other sites, to between 180-200fps
- Chest/Back protection and gloves are mandatory for under 14yrs and optional for 14yrs+
- Head shots don’t count
- We have purchased the highest grade astro turf available – this means that if you do happen to slip and fall it will help to absorb the impact (in fact, many players dive and slide on the turf)
What should I wear?
Nothing too precious! Predator Paintball is played in an inflatable arena on the very best Platinum Astroturf. This means you will be running, jumping, sliding and diving across the floor dodging paintballs and generally abusing whatever clothing you are wearing!
Ideally you should wear clothing that is tough and fairly thick – old jeans with a pair of trackie bottoms underneath will serve you well. On the top half, we recommend hoodies – these can be worn under or over your mask/goggles to protect your head and neck area.
Gloves are always a good idea – ski gloves, thick leather gloves
How long does it last?
Unlike most paintball sites which only offer all-day paintballing, we offer a range of options to suit you – you can simply ‘Arrive ‘n’ Survive’ – turn up and have a 30 minute blast with your mates, or take part in a tournament lasting up to 3 hours,
Can I bring my own marker (gun)?
Not at the moment. It is something we are looking into, and if anything changes we will announce it on the website.
Can I bring my own paintballs?
No
What happens if I run out of paintballs?
You can simply purchase some more from reception
What happens if I have paintballs left at the end of the tournament/day?
Any paintballs that you have not collected from reception can be credited to your account and used the next time you visit or used in our Shooting Range.
We do not offer any refunds for unused paint.
What happens in adverse weather and extreme wind conditions?
Unfortunately we do not run paintball if the weather does not permit. This is due to safety reasons with our arena. We will endeavour to inform all bookings in good time, however, this may not always be possible. All bookings will rescheduled.
